Walter Raizner (born August 15, 1954 in Aalen ) is a German manager .

Life

Raizner graduated from the Main-Taunus-Gymnasium in Hofheim am Taunus in 1974 and studied economics and IT in Nuremberg / Erlangen from 1977 to 1983 . After completing his studies, he worked briefly for Hoechst and then for Nixdorf , before joining IBM Germany in 1984 . From 1989 to 1991 he was assistant to the sales manager at IBM Germany. His work for the IBM group in the 90s was characterized by stays abroad and various tasks in sales , marketing and general management. Raizner went to the USA in 1995 and returned to Germany a year later as head of hardware sales at IBM. This was followed by two foreign stations, Great Britain and the USA. The manager spends a total of six years in America. Raizner was most recently responsible for IBM's global storage business before replacing Erwin Staudt at the head of IBM Germany in early 2003 . From November 1, 2004 to December 6, 2006, he was responsible for the Broadband / Fixed Network strategic business area on the Executive Board of Deutsche Telekom AG . On February 15, 2006, the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media ( BITKOM ) announced that Walter Raizner had been elected as Vice President of the industry association.
