Life

Adolf Andrée was born at the beginning of industrialization in the Kingdom of Hanover in the small town of Münder am Deister as the son of the pharmacist Friedrich Jacob Andree. After an apprenticeship as a pharmacist, he first studied pharmacy in Göttingen at the Georg-August University and then in Berlin the subjects of mineralogy , geology , balneology and economics .

As his father's successor, Andree took over Adler-Apotheke Münder, but also ran a pharmacy in Hanover .

Andree wrote the text Flora der Umgebung von Münder , published in 1874 .

In order to utilize Münder's mineral springs in a healing way, Andrèe initiated a joint stock company in 1878, which built a bathhouse with a spa park and pond on the former site of the Salzhof (1250 m²). (A three-story spa hotel was completed around 1900. Five years after the property had passed into the ownership of the city in 1931, it was awarded the state label "Bad".)

Andree was chairman of the municipal botanical garden in Hanover. He was a member of the board of directors of the Natural History Society of Hanover and later an honorary member .

In 1880 Andree became the father of the later geologist and paleontologist Karl Andrée .
