Adolf Dahm-Petersen
Adolf Dahm-Petersen (born January 2, 1856 in Kristiania , † January 29, 1922 in Los Angeles ) was a Norwegian university teacher , singer and singing teacher .
Life
Adolf Dahm-Petersen, son of Johan Frode Petersen (1819–1913) and Helena Thalia Petersen b. Dahm (1828–1862), attended high school and the Norwegian Military Academy . Dahm-Petersen studied in Aachen and Karlsruhe . In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Germania fraternity (today Teutonia ). He then studied piano with Hanna Bergwitz-Goffeng and Johan Svendsen , as well as singing with Emilio Belari.
On September 11, 1891, he married Susie Kreuder.
Dahm-Petersen's first concert took place in Carnegie Hall in 1894 . Further concerts followed in the USA , Norway and Denmark . He has also appeared as a soloist for the Oratorio Society of New York , Sousa's Band and the Damrosch Opera Company at Madison Square Garden .
Dahm-Petersen has served as the director of several singing associations and as a singing teacher at Cornell University and the Ithaca Conservatory of Music . His repertoire included more than a thousand songs and one of his students is Oliver Hardy .
