Adolf Narten

Adolf Narten (born January 7, 1842 in Hanover ; † December 27, 1928 there ; full name: Adolf Friedrich Ferdinand Theodor Narten ) was a German architect .

Life

His father was the locksmith and brewer Wilhelm Johann Jacob Narten (1803-1845). His brothers were Hermann Narten (1839–1916) and Werner Narten (1832–1889).

He studied from 1860 to 1866 at the Polytechnic School in Hanover and was also employed by Wilhelm Lüer in 1861 and with Adelbert Hotzen from 1863 to 1866 . With Hotzen he worked on the restoration of the Bücken collegiate church . In 1866 he worked for Conrad Wilhelm Hase .

From 1866 to 1868 he worked for his brother Werner. Together they worked on the reconstruction of the Meldorfer Dom . From 1868–1871 he worked at the Flensburg district building authority . From 1872 to 1877 he worked independently in Hanover and then until 1880 with Rudolph Eberhard Hillebrand . From 1884 to 1911 he was employed at the City Planning Department under Hillebrand and Paul Rowald . Until 1921 he was also a teacher at the city's crafts and arts and crafts school .

He took part in the change in style from neo-Gothic to Art Nouveau.
