Adolf Schorisch

Adolf Schorisch (born May 21, 1881 in Nagymegyer , Hungary, † January 23, 1966 in Jonsdorf ) was a German draftsman , etcher and illustrator .

Life

Adolf Schorisch was born in Hungary. In 1887 the Schorisch family moved to Sorau in Brandenburg . Schorisch enjoyed his school education at the Francke Foundations in Halle , after which he completed an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor in Görlitz and Forst (Lausitz) . After attending the drawing school in Görlitz, Schorisch perfected his artistic skills at the Dresden School of Applied Arts from 1902 and then attended the local art academy . In 1906 he got a job as a drawing teacher at the municipal craft and trade school in Zittau , which he headed between 1945 and 1947. After his retirement in 1947, Schorisch lived in nearby Jonsdorf.

In 1928 the Zittauer Morgen-Zeitung published 30 pen drawings by Schorisch as a drawing portfolio. Four years later, the same publisher published the first part of From Our Beautiful Home , for which he provided the text as well as his drawings. Schorisch also created a large number of drawings as illustrations for local literature from Upper Lusatia . He is one of the most important draftsmen in Upper Lusatia. His students included u. a. Siegfried Schreiber and Joachim Liebscher . The Heimatmuseum Ostritz honored the work of Schorisch and the painter Elsa Merkel in May 2011 with an exhibition.
