Adolf von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim (born August 22, 1809 in Helmern ; † January 13, 1872 ibid) was a German landowner and Prussian district administrator.

Origin and family

As the son of the married couple Ernst Ludwig Christoph Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim (Landmarschall) and Charlotte Henriette Clementine von der Malsburg, Adolf von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim came from the Westphalian noble family von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim . His sister Wilhelmine (1804 to 1860) was married to Aloysius von Amelunxen . The district administrator of the Paderborn district and later district president in Düsseldorf Adolf Theodor von Spiegel-Borlinghausen and zu Peckelsheim also belonged to the ancestral family. On January 15, 1839, Adolf von Spiegel married Augusta Elisabeth von Amelunxen in Kassel . The daughter Wilhelmine (* 1839), married to August von Amelunxen (Prussian lieutenant general) and the son Raban Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim (district administrator of the Warburg district) emerged from the marriage. His son Joseph was married to Gertrut von Amelunxen . The daughters Aloysia Jenny Maria Wilhelmine (* 1910), married to Karl Wilhelm Clemens Joseph Westphalen zu Fürstenberg, and Regina (* 1926), married to Manfred von Landsberg-Velen, come from the marriage . Raban von Westphalen is a great-great-grandson of Adolf von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim.

Live and act

From 1821 to 1829 Adolf attended the Lyzeum Kassel and received private tuition in Arolsen for a year . From 1832 he worked in the district office in Paderborn and in 1836 took over the management of his own property. In 1839 he became community leader of Helmern and in 1841 district deputy of the Warburg district . The district council of the Warburg district elected him on July 12, 1847 with 12 out of 19 votes as the first candidate for the office of district administrator. On October 9, he was appointed District Administrator, subject to the examination to be taken, which he passed on February 10, 1848 with the result “capable of managing the District Office”. He stayed in this office for 21 years and resigned from civil service on October 19, 1868 for health reasons. He was a member of the Provincial Parliament .
