Raban Ernst Aloys Freiherr Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim (born June 21, 1841 in Helmern ; † May 10, 1906 there ) was a Westphalian manor owner, administrative officer and parliamentarian.

Life

Raban Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim was born as the son of the manor owner and district administrator Adolf von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim and Auguste nee. by Amelunxen . After attending high school in Arnsberg and Paderborn and a course at the Forest District in Wünnenberg studied at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen who, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn and the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin right and cameralistics . In 1861 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . In 1862 he joined the Corps Borussia Bonn . In 1864 he passed the examination as an auscultator at the Paderborn Court of Appeal, in 1866 as a trainee lawyer at the Paderborn Court of Appeal and in 1867 as a government trainee with the government in Münster.

In 1868 he switched to the government in Minden. In 1869 he became the owner of a manor in direct succession to his father, district administrator of the Warburg district . During the Kulturkampf he was put into temporary retirement. In 1885 he was elected district deputy of the Warburg district. After he had held the municipal administration of the Warburg District Office from 1885, he was re-elected District Warburg District Administrator in 1887. He held the office until his death.

Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim was a member of the Westphalian Provincial Parliament and a deputy member of the Provincial Committee as well as chairman of the agricultural district association. He was a participant in the German War and the Franco-German War . Spiegel was married to Countess Maria Mengersen for the first time . From the marriage came the son Joseph , married to Gertrut von Amelunxen . From this marriage come the daughters Aloysia Jenny Maria Wilhelmine (* 1910), married to Karl Wilhelm Clemens Joseph Westphalen zu Fürstenberg, and Regina (* 1926), married to Manfred von Landsberg-Velen. Raban von Westphalen (political scientist) is a great-grandson of Raban Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim, who was married to Charlotte Countess von Hollstein for the second time. District Administrator Hugo von Brackel was his brother-in-law.
