Adolph Friedrich Balemann (pastor, 1743)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolph Friedrich Balemann (born May 5, 1743 in Eutin , † April 19, 1826 in Reinfeld ) was a German pastor and consistory assessor.

Live and act

Adolph Friedrich Balemann was a son of the superintendent Hinrich Balemann and his wife Ottilia Elisabeth, née Woldenberg. He had five sisters and seven brothers, including the lawyer Georg Gottlob Balemann .

Balemann studied theology at universities in Helmstedt , from 1764 in Rostock and 1765 in Göttingen . Afterwards he taught Henning Benedikt von Rumohr's only son as a private tutor in Kiel . Presumably because of Rumohr's intercession, Balemann received a position as court and palace preacher in Kiel in May 1773. On July 1, 1773, he received an extraordinary professorship for philosophy at the University of Kiel . A month later a theology teaching permit was added. On March 19, 1774 he was promoted to Magister.

Balemann's teaching activities had little effect. The royal government therefore appointed him in 1774 as pastor and consistorial assessor at the Reinfeld church . Here he succeeded Matthias Claudius' father and remained in this position until the end of his life. In 1825 he was awarded the Dannebrogden .

family

Balemann married Magdalena Margaretha Christia Sager from Wulmenau (* in October 1760; † 23 January 1783 in Reinfeld), probably in Siebenbäume in the spring of 1777 . The couple had two sons.

In his second marriage, Balemann married Catharina Elisabeth Hoyer (born April 24, 1767 in Süderau ; † April 25, 1835 in Reinfeld). Her sister Ida (1771–1804) married Detlev Olshausen and gave birth to Justus Olshausen and Theodor Olshausen . The Balemanns had five sons and three daughters. They included Georg Ludwig Balemann and the pastor Adolph Friedrich Balemann .
