Adrienne Lezzi-Hafter

Adrienne Lezzi-Hafter (née Hafter, born October 25, 1945 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss classical archaeologist and publishing director.

Hafter attended primary school in Kilchberg and high school in Zurich . Since 1965 she has been studying Classical Archeology, Prehistory and Ancient History at the University of Zurich and obtained a lic. phil. Since 1969 she has been touring the Mediterranean for a long time , especially the places of Classical Antiquity . In 1969 she spent a longer stay at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma , and in 1971 at the Beazley Archive in Oxford . In 1973 she was with Hansjörg Bloesch with the work The Schuwalow painter. A pot workshop from the Parthenon period is doing a doctorate. Between 1978 and 1984, with the help of the Swiss National Science Foundation and with the photographer Jürg Zbinden, they made a dozen trips to many archaeological collections around the world, including Leningrad , Los Angeles , Copenhagen and Cuba . In between trips she was a visiting researcher at the Archaeological Seminar of the University of Bern . She has been running her own publishing house Akanthus since 1989, which mainly publishes publications on classical archeology, but also publications by the Kilchberg Reading Association and the Erika Streit Foundation Kilchberg. In 2006 and 2008 she designed two children's books for the Philipp von Zabern publishing house on the ancient heroes Odysseus and Heracles .

Lezzi-Hafter researches mainly Attic vase painting , especially red-figure vase painting from the Classical Period . In addition to smaller works, her monographic investigations on the Shuvalov painter and the Eretria painter are of lasting scientific importance. For New Pauly she contributed several articles about these painters and their environment.

She is married to the journalist and general staff officer Bruno Lezzi .
