Hansjörg Bloesch (born July 5, 1912 in Bern , † January 21, 1992 in Winterthur ) was a Swiss classical archaeologist and numismatist .

Hansjörg Bloesch, son of the editor and librarian Hans Bloesch , studied at the universities of Bern, Paris and Munich. He received his doctorate in August 1940 at the University of Munich under Ernst Buschor with the work Forms of Attic Bowls from Exekias to the End of the Strict Style . Already with his dissertation he made a lasting contribution to the subject by arranging the Attic bowls typologically and thus creating a framework for the orientation of classical archaeologists. The typological classification of the bowls was carried out from now on "according to Bloesch". In 1943 he was at the University of Bern habilitation, in 1948 there associate professor and the first chair as Professor of Classical Archeology at the University. In 1951 he moved to the University of Zurich , where he became a full professor in 1969. His successor in Bern was Hans Jucker , and he himself succeeded Arnold von Salis in Zurich . In 1977 Bloesch retired. His successor was Hans Peter Isler .

For 34 years, from 1948 to 1982, he was the curator of the Münzkabinett and Antikensammlung of the city of Winterthur . He was the first part-time paid curator of the Münzkabinett and published parts of its holdings.

Bloesch had been a full member of the German Archaeological Institute since 1954 and the Austrian Archaeological Institute . Since 1971 he has been in charge of the excavations at Monte Iato in Sicily . From 1952 he headed the Swiss Commission for the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum .

His main research interests were the Greek vases and Greek numismatics.
