The Adschihol Lighthouse ( Ukrainian Аджигольський маяк Adschyholskyj Mayak , Russian Аджигольский маяк Adschigolskyj Mayak ) is a 64 meter high lighthouse in hyperboloid structure in Liman of the Dnepr -Mündung into the Black Sea , in front of the village Rybaltsche about 30 km west-south-west von Cherson , which was built in 1911 by the Russian engineer , inventor and polymath Vladimir Grigoryevich Shukhov .
description
The Adschihol lighthouse is a rotational hyperboloid . The diameter at the bottom of the foundation is 18 m, at the top ring 7 m. The height of the tower frame from the foundation to the upper ring is 59 m. On the surface of the upper ring there is an octagonal tin hut for the beacon keeper with a height of 4 m. The outer width or diameter of the circle described is 6.5 m. The structure for the lantern house is hexagonal, total height with pyramid roof 7 m, outer width, like the diameter of the circle described, 4.5 m. The tower frame consists of 60 angle irons which intersect and are aligned in straight lines that form a hyperboloid . In order to create the necessary connection between the angle irons of the hyperboloid structure , several horizontal rings are attached to it from the inside of the scaffolding at a distance of 2 m from each other. The angle irons are riveted at the crossing points, and the lattice structure of the tower formed in this way represents a connected and rigid system. In the middle of the tower, an iron pipe with a diameter of 2 m is attached over the entire height, in which there is a spiral staircase made of steel.
The construction principle of the rotational hyperboloid was taken up again for the construction of the Canton Tower , the fourth tallest structure in the world, and the Kobe Port Tower .
