Agave tequilana is a type of plant from the genus of agaves ( agave ).

description

Agave tequilana has a short, thick trunk and reaches a height of 30 to 50 centimeters. Its radiantly spread rosette , on which sinkers form, has a diameter of 1.2 to 1.8 meters. The mostly rigidly spreading, pointed leaves are ascending to horizontal and tightly fibrous. They narrow and thicken towards the base and are widest in the middle. The glaucous- bluish green to gray-green, sometimes transversely banded leaf blade is 90 to 120 centimeters long and 8 to 12 centimeters wide. The leaf margin is straight to wavy or flared. The light to dark brown marginal teeth are usually 3 to 6 millimeters apart in the middle of the blade, otherwise 1 to 2 centimeters apart. The end thorn is flattened or furrowed open and 1 to 2 centimeters long.

The "panicle", densely branched inflorescence is between 5 and 6 meters long. The multiple diffusely composed partial inflorescences consist of 20 to 25 flowers 68 to 75 millimeters in length with green tepals . The funnel-shaped flower tube is 10 millimeters long. The ovary is between 28 and 32 millimeters long.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 60, 90, 120 or 150.
