Agighiol , also Adzigiol [ aʒigjol ], is a sea and air spa in the southeast of Romania in the Tulcea district . It is part of the municipality of Valea Nucarilor .
The place is located in a nature reserve and is an important fossil site that has been declared a paleontological reserve .
In early December 2005, Agighiol, along with another village, was quarantined on suspected avian flu and an emergency slaughter was carried out.
archeology
During excavations, a chamber grave of a Thracian prince from the beginning of the 4th century BC was found. Chr. Found. The grave is located under the central settlement hill in the place. To the rich features of the royal grave belonged Greaves and jewelry made of gold and silver, as well Attic - red-figure pottery . The finds are among the oldest examples of Thracian art.
In September 2001, the finds could also be viewed in Germany in an exhibition of Thracian and Celtic art in the Hochdorf Museum.
