Political work

Becker has been a member of the ÖDP since 1997 and has been deputy chairwoman of the ÖDP Bavaria since 2009. In 2014 she was elected to the Passau district council, to which she has belonged ever since. She has also been a member of the party's federal executive committee since 2014 and was provisional federal chairman of the party in 2018. Since Christoph Raabs was elected as chairman in May 2018, she has been the first deputy party chairman again.

For the state elections in Bavaria in 2018 she ran as the top candidate of the ÖDP and in 2018 was the initiator of the popular initiative "Biodiversity & Natural Beauty in Bavaria" , which was concluded in February 2019 with the registration of 18.4% of the eligible voters as the most successful of all previous popular initiatives in Bavaria. As a result of the successful referendum, the Bavarian State Parliament decided on an extensive species protection package in July 2019 . In order to check the effectiveness of the species protection package in practice, Agnes Becker announced in September 2019 an application campaign by the almost 400 municipal ÖDP mandate holders. In early 2020, Focus put them on the list of the “100 People of the Year” for 2019; it ranks 29th on this.
