Gabriela Schimmer-Göresz
Gabriela Johanna Schimmer-Göresz (née Schweidler ; born July 16, 1952 in Memmingen ) is a German politician . From November 2014 until the turn of the year 2017/2018 she was the federal chairwoman of the ÖDP and thus the second woman in this office since it was founded in 1982.
Life
Gabriela Schimmer-Göresz grew up in Holzgünz , Upper Swabia , where she attended elementary school. She then went to the Elsbethenschule , a secondary school in Memmingen , for a year , and then to the State Commercial and Business School in Memmingen. She completed this in 1968 with a secondary school leaving certificate .
Schimmer-Göresz learned the profession of a legal assistant and practiced this until the birth of her first daughter in 1977. She married in 1973 and gave birth to their second daughter in 1979. As a mother, she was involved in the pre-political arena in the parents' council of kindergarten and elementary school and in the women's circle of her home parish Mariä Himmelfahrt in Memmingen.
In 2003 Gabriela Schimmer married Franz Göresz and has been using the name Schimmer-Göresz ever since. In 2004 she moved to Weiler , a district of Osterberg . She works part-time in a Memmingen law firm .
Political career
On April 26, 1986, the day of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster , Schimmer-Göresz became aware of the ÖDP through a leaflet in Munich . She joined the party a month later. She was a member of the first board of the Memmingen district association, newly founded in 1986, as secretary . In 1989 she took over the chairmanship of the district association. From 1996 to 2005 she was a city councilor in Memmingen; after moving to the Neu-Ulm district , she had to surrender the mandate.
Since 2007 she has been chairwoman of the Neu-Ulm district association, which was expanded to include the Günzburg district in September 2014 . With several state elections in Bavaria , most recently in 2008 and 2013 , it stood as a candidate in voting district Memmingen and in the general election in 2013 in the federal constituency of Neu-Ulm as a direct candidate of the ODP. From February 1987, Schimmer-Göresz was a board member of the ÖDP district association Swabia , initially as secretary and at times also as chairwoman. She resigned from this position on December 13, 2014.
From 1993 to 1999 she was deputy state chairman in Bavaria . Schimmer-Göresz wrote down her experiences from the time of the popular initiative “Lean State without Senate” in an article for the book 25 Years of the ÖDP . Since 2013 she has been a member of the Bavarian State Board again as an assessor . She will be relinquishing this office in June 2015 due to her work as Federal Chairwoman.
From 2002 to spring 2014, Schimmer-Göresz was the chairman of a citizens' initiative that initially set up the action group stop aircraft noise, no airfield Memmingerberg e. V. called. For several years he has been fighting with a changed name Bürger gegen Fluglärm e. V. against Memmingen Airport in Memmingerberg . Since mid-2014 she has been the deputy spokesperson for the alliance “STOP TTIP Memmingen-Unterallgäu” and is involved in the resistance against the free trade agreements CETA , TTIP and TiSA .
At the federal party conference of the ÖDP in Erlangen on November 15, 2014, she was elected as the new federal chairman of the ÖDP in a vote against the previous incumbent Sebastian Frankenberger . At the turn of the year 2017/2018, Schimmer-Göresz resigned from her position for health reasons. Her successor as ÖDP party chairman was Christoph Raabs .
