The Ahle is an approximately 18 kilometers long right or northwest tributary of the Schwülme in Lower Saxony , Germany .
geography
source
The stream rises in southern Lower Saxony in the center of the Solling . The sources of the Ahle are located south of the village of Neuhaus im Solling in the Ahlewiesen nature reserve . They are located a few meters west of the federal highway 497 in the area of the Northeim district near the border with the Holzminden district . The Ahlequellmoor is one of the last remaining fens in southern Lower Saxony. While the sources of the Ahle are supplied with water all year round, the amounts of precipitation on the southwestern edge of the Solling are quite low all year round.
course
The awl initially runs through a rather narrow stream bed, which is surrounded by dense high forests, to the south. After a few kilometers, the valley widens more and more and the stream surrounded by meadows continues south-east to the town of Uslar . It flows through Schönhagen , Kammerborn and Sohlingen (each of Uslar districts) and past the western edge of the Uslar core city.
muzzle
In the southern foothills of the Solling, the Ahle is fed by the Rehbach (largest Ahle tributary) coming from the northeast , after which it reaches Schoningen (district of Uslar). To the south or below it , the Ahle flows into the Schwülme coming from the southeast at a height of 131 m, which flows into the Weser about seven kilometers (as the crow flies) further west .
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Ahle covers 142.86 square kilometers, which is the second largest in the Schwülme water system.
