Ahmadshah Abdullah

TYT Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmadshah bin Abdullah , SMN , SPDK , DP, PGDK , ASDK , KMN , JP (born December 9, 1946 in Inanam , British North Borneo ) was the 9th  Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah , the ceremonial head of state of Malaysian state of Sabah .

Education

Ahmadshah began his education in 1952 at the Government Primary School Darau in Menggatal and completed his higher education in 1967 at the La Salle Secondary School Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu . He graduated from South Devon College in England with a degree in Development Administration. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Indiana State University in the USA .

Working life

He began his professional life on March 1, 1968 as a customs officer at the Royal Customs and Tax Office in Kota Kinabalu. On November 10, 1969, he was transferred to the Beaufort District as Assistant District Officer . From April 1979 to July 1983 he served as a senior officer on the National Paddy and Rice Board . Other stages in his career included his work as Secretary of the Public Service Commission of Sabah State (1983), Daawah Commissioner of the Sabah Islamic Council from October 1986 to January 1988, Secretary of the Islamic Council from January 1988 to June 1994, Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Research from 1994 to 1995 and Director of the State Public Service Department from December 1995 to March 1998. He served as Deputy Secretary of State from March 21, 1998 until his retirement on December 8, 2002.

On January 1, 2003, he was sworn in as the ninth Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah . He served two full terms as ceremonial head of state of Sabah and resigned on December 31, 2010.

Private life

Ahmadshah is married to Hajah Dayang Masuyah binti Awang Japar. The couple have three sons and one daughter.
