Akemi Ozaki

Akemi Ozaki ( Japanese 尾崎 朱 美 , Ozaki Akemi ; born October 12, 1977 in Yamakita , Ashigarakami-gun , Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

In 2003 she was third in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon with 1:10:31 h, her best half marathon time. In 2006 she made her full-distance debut, but only came 18th in the Nagoya Marathon . She had her breakthrough in the same year as runner-up in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon with a time of 2:28:51 h. In 2007 she was fourth in 2:28:39 and shortly afterwards second in the Honolulu Marathon .

In 2009 she was initially only tenth in the Osaka Women's Marathon due to an injury sustained in the race. A third place in the Nagano Marathon was followed by a second in the Hokkaidō Marathon with a personal record of 2:27:23. In autumn she won the Athens marathon .

Akemi Ozaki is 1.57 m tall and weighs 45 kg. The graduate of Juntendo University started working for Second Wind AC in 2007 . She has been married to Toyoshi Ishige since March 2007. Her younger sister Yoshimi Ozaki won the silver medal at the 2009 World Cup marathon in Berlin.
