action

first act

The young street thief Aladdin is homeless, poor and lives in the fictional Agrabah. Together with his friends Babkak, Omar and Kassar he earns his living by stealing. In the palace of Agrabah the Sultan gives his daughter Jasmin a choice: Either she finds a prince and marries, or he looks for a husband for her. However, Jasmin wants to get married out of true love. Since she has never left the palace, she secretly wants to sneak out of her home and explore the city. The Sultan's Grand Vizier, Jafar, learns of the Sultan's plans and hatches a plan how he can come to the throne himself. Together with his assistant Iago, he has to get a magic lamp out of a cave. However, the two are forbidden to enter the cave, as it can only be entered by a person with a flawless character, the "uncut diamond". It's Aladdin.

Aladdin and Jasmin meet in the bazaar, and the two are blown away by each other. Jasmine accompanies Aladdin to his shelter. There they are caught by the palace guards, however, and Aladdin is to be executed for kidnapping the princess. However, he is rescued by Jafar on the condition that Aladdin fetches the magic lamp from the cave. Aladdin agrees and goes into the cave. There he not only finds the oil lamp, but also Egyptian jade. When he takes it, the cave closes. In his desperation he rubs the lamp and the magical genie appears. Since Aladdin freed Genie, he has three wishes. After Genie has freed Aladdin from the cave, he wishes - for Jasmin - to be a prince.

Second act

Under the name of Prince Ali, he arrives at the palace together with Dschinni, Babkak, Omar and Kassar to ask for the hand of Princess Jasmin. Here Iago shows Aladdin the way to the princess' chambers, although this is forbidden. Prince Ali comes closer to Jasmin and shows her his world. This is how Jasmin finds out that Prince Ali is the boy from the bazaar. But Aladdin is captured by Jafar and ends up in the dungeon with his friends. Aladdin's second wish frees the five.

The sultan gives the blessing for the wedding of Aladdin and Jasmin, but Jafar steals the oil lamp and becomes the new master of the jinnis. With his first wish he captures Jasmine, with his second he claims the sultan's throne. Knowing that a Djinni's capabilities are limited, Aladdin advises Jafar to make himself the most powerful Djinni. He then disappears into an oil lamp that is kept by the Sultan. Jasmin and Aladdin get married and he wishes with his remaining wish that Dschinni is released from his duties as a lamp spirit and is thus free. Iago is thrown in prison and Babkak, Omar and Kassar become royal advisers.
