Alarm für Cobra 11: Das Syndikat , in English-speaking countries Crash Time 4: The Syndicate , is the tenth game in the TV series Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei . The racing game was developed by the German company Synetic and published at the end of 2010 by dtp entertainment for Windows and Xbox 360 . Porting to the Sony PlayStation 3 followed at the end of 2011 .

The game environment is based on the city of Cologne and the surrounding area. The cars are similar to the original cars but are not licensed.

Game modes

Single player modes

campaign

In the single-player campaign, the player takes on the role of Commissioners Semir Gerkhan and Ben Jäger and fights a crime syndicate. In addition, the city, which is based on Cologne , can be freely driven. By recruiting informants and setting up surveillance cameras, the player can have the city monitored. If he learns of a crime, it is necessary to bring the crooks down, which is usually achieved by blocking the enemy vehicle for a few seconds so that it cannot continue. The criminals then automatically go to custody .

There are also other tasks for the player. Prisoners have to be escorted from custody to prison. If this is not done, there is a risk that the prisoners will be released again (e.g. through an escape or resourceful lawyers). In addition, the player can take part in championship races and thus earn better emergency vehicles.

The crimes and thus the stakes in the game are, as the manual says, generated in real time. Thus, the game offers additional variety when you play it through again.

Single race

Individual races can also be run. Before the race, the player can set many settings such as number of laps, number of opponents, strength of opponents, use of nitro or traffic density himself.

Multiplayer modes

Free ride

There are no guidelines in this game mode. The players just drive around town.

Individual races Races on specified routes

A normal race in which the game master, like in the single race in single player mode, makes certain settings such as route, number of laps, etc. Ä. Can set.

Checkpoint race

In the checkpoint race, there is no predetermined route, only checkpoints. The players can decide for themselves how they want to reach the control points. At each checkpoint, points are awarded to the drivers depending on the sequence. Whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Deathmatch

Here the players try to ram themselves in such a way that the opponents explode. There are points for making others explode. If you explode yourself, points will be deducted. You can choose whether the end of a match should be tied to a certain number of points or to a time limit.

Sumo deathmatch

Sumo Deathmatch is similar to Deathmatch mode, with the only difference that the duels here take place on higher areas (for example a warehouse roof) and there is also the possibility of scoring points by removing the opponent from the playing area bumps. This is comparable to the ring out from beat 'em ups like Virtua Fighter or Soul Calibur .

technology

The game's soundtrack comes from the music production company Dynamedion from Mainz . The main characters Ben Jäger and Semir Gerkhan are voiced by their original actors Erdoğan Atalay and Tom Beck .

Heiko Klinge from GameStar complained about the game that it became routine too quickly during the tasks. He also criticized the elimination of the rating system compared to the previous game, which led to a lower replay value. On the other hand, he praised the fun of the driving tests and the credibly simulated urban traffic, which he described as "still as adrenaline-inducing as it is unique in the genre". He drew as a conclusion “The Syndicate is also good for a few minutes of happy motorway riot, but given the great predecessor I had expected a lot more” and gave it a rating of 68 out of 100 points.

Michael Sosinka from Gamezone praised the story missions, but at the same time criticized the sometimes lack of variety within the tasks. He strongly criticized the game design of the game. The missions of the game, in which surveillance cameras have to be installed in almost 300 locations or hiding places have to be found, are pure occupational therapy and “the direct opposite of fun”. He also criticized the plot and the dubbing voices of the actors, which "provided a pleasant trash factor". Sosinka, on the other hand, praised the implementation of the city of Cologne and the Autobahn in the virtual game world. He awarded a grade of 5.6 / 10.
