Alastair McIntyre (born April 2, 1927 in Oxfordshire , † May 1, 1986 in London ) was a British film editor and sound designer who oversaw over 30 cinema productions in his 25-year career. life and career

Alastair McIntyre, born in Oxfordshire in 1927, began his career as a clay designer in 1955. His first production was Basil Dearden's crime film The Ship That Died of Shame . Over the next decade, he worked for directors such as Charles Frend , Charles Crichton , Leslie Norman , Guy Green , Jack Clayton , Sidney Gilliat , Robert Asher , Anthony Asquith and Bryan Forbes .

In 1962 he switched from sound to film editing . There he made contributions as an editor for cinema productions such as Endstation 13 Sahara by Seth Holt (1962), The horror of Black Torment by Robert Hartford-Davis (1964) or The Countess and Her Colonel , directed by Jerzy Skolimowski (1970). In addition, he worked with his friend the director Roman Polanski on six joint films. Including Ekel (1965), Wenn Katelbach Comes… (1965), Tanz der Vampire (1965), Macbeth (1971) or What? (1972). His last work for Polanski was the 1979 film Tess with Nastassja Kinski in the lead role.

After that, McIntyre ended his film career. Alastair McIntyre died in London in May 1986 at the age of 59.
