The Switzerland took part in the Winter Olympics in 1980 in Lake Placid with a delegation of 44 athletes (33 men, 11 women) athletes participate. The alpine ski racer Marie-Theres Nadig was chosen as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony, while her colleague Erika Hess carried the Swiss flag at the closing ceremony .
