Alberode is the smallest district of the municipality of Meißner in the Werra-Meißner district in North Hesse .
Geographical location
The village is located on the Komberg in the foreland of the Hoher Meissner .
history
Alberode was first mentioned in 1276. In 1823 the present Protestant church was inaugurated according to plans by the master builder JF Matthei . The hall is half-timbered and clad on the outside. The hipped roof is crowned with a ridge turret. The gallery is circumferential, the pulpit is above the altar. The organ was installed in 1864.
The Mönchhof estate belonging to Alberode was first mentioned in 876. In 1900/01 it was expanded to include two farm wings opposite, and a new mansion was built in 1911–1913 based on a design by the architect Wilhelm Freiherr von Tettau .
On December 31, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent communities of Abterode, Alberode, Germerode, Vockerode, Weidenhausen and Wellingerode merged to form the new large community of Meißner.
