Albert von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (born April 30, 1798 in Rudolstadt ; † November 26, 1869 there ) was Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt from 1867 to 1869 and came from the Schwarzburg family .
Life
Albert was born on April 30, 1798 as the second son of Ludwig Friedrich II. Von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife Karoline Louise . In Albert's childhood, Louis Ferdinand of Prussia was a guest at Heidecksburg Castle from October 7th to 9th, 1806 . The prince was in command of a Prussian-Saxon vanguard in the Fourth Coalition War against France and later came to life on October 10, 1806 in the battle near Saalfeld . During the visit of Louis Ferdinand, it was said in the princely family, Albert's interest in the military became apparent. For safety reasons, Princess Karoline Louise went with her children first to Frankenhausen and then to Kassel . The situation soon calmed down and the princess was able to return with the children. Shortly before Albert's father, the ruling Prince Ludwig Friedrich , died on April 28, 1807, the principality joined the Confederation of the Rhine . Subsequently, Karoline Louise became the guardian of her son Friedrich Günther . In 1810 Albrecht and his brother Friedrich Günther were sent to Geneva for a year to train .
The prince took part in the wars of liberation against Napoleon in 1814/15 and moved to Paris . Albert received the Iron Cross 2nd class for his services . In 1814 he became a second lieutenant in the Prussian army . In this capacity Albert served under Lieutenant General Ludwig von Hessen-Homburg , his uncle. During the soldier years, the prince was often a guest at the Prussian court. There he met his future wife Auguste, daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels and niece of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. know. The wedding took place on July 27, 1827 at Schönhausen Palace . Albert took over the reign of the principality on June 28, 1867 after the death of his brother Friedrich Günther . At the beginning of his reign, the constitution of the North German Confederation came into force on July 1, 1867. On October 23, 1869, the prince had the state parliament dissolved. The reason was a dispute over planned tax increases. His son Georg Albert reinstated the state parliament.
Albert was the Prussian general of the cavalry and since March 22, 1869 chief of the Westphalian Dragoon Regiment No. 7 stationed in Stendal and Tangermünde .
Prince Albert died on November 26, 1869.
