Life

Duin was born in Emden, Lower Saxony, in 1953. From 1969 to 1973 he completed an apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic in the telecommunications service before he signed up for two more years as a contract soldier in the German Armed Forces , where he worked as an aircraft technician . From 1975 he worked for an electrical company and completed a technical training course and an evening school course in business administration from 1977 to 1979. He then worked as a development engineer before becoming the general sales manager of a medium-sized company in 1981. Duin is the founder and, since 1983, managing partner of Induktor GmbH , a medium-sized technical company based in Munich , which operates internationally and, according to self-reported, currently employs around 80 people.

Duin is married and has three children.

politics

Duin has been a member of the FDP since 2006 and was a member of the Munich City Association until 2014. On November 23, 2013 Duin was surprisingly elected chairman of the FDP Bavaria with 205 votes to 157 against the former parliamentary group leader Thomas Hacker . Duin previously had no political mandate.

At the federal party conference of the FDP in Berlin on May 15, 2015, Duin failed both with his application for the post of deputy federal chairman against Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann and as an assessor in the presidium against Michael Theurer .

On November 11, 2017, the FDP state party conference elected the Bavarian top candidate for the federal election in September 2017, Daniel Föst as the new state chairman; Duin had not run again before.

For the Bavarian state elections in 2018 Duin applied for the top candidacy of his party. He moved into the runoff election, but was defeated by Martin Hagen on March 12, 2018 . Duin therefore took second place on the FDP list in the Upper Bavaria constituency and was also a direct candidate in the 105 Munich-Moosach constituency . Because of his overall voting result, he was elected to the 18th Bavarian state parliament.

Albert Duin represents the FDP parliamentary group as a member in the committee for economy, regional development, energy, media and digitization and in the committee for submissions and complaints.
