Albert Limbach (born June 10, 1838 ; died March 3, 1898 in Braunschweig ) was a German typesetter , publisher , editor and printer owner .

Live and act

On July 1, 1865, Limbach and the printer and stereotype founder Albert Berglein founded a printing company in a building at Stobenstrasse 14 in Braunschweig under the name " Berglein und Limbach ". At first they almost exclusively produced commercial jobs here . In 1867 they briefly published the Braunschweiger Reform newspaper. The works from this printing house included, among other things, publications on the "Duke of Brunswick Troop Corps", reports on the "Higher Daughter School", company publications or on the "Workers' Day for Braunschweig and the wider area" that took place on July 21, 1867. In addition, leaflets were printed for the Social Democratic Workers' Party in the Braunschweig region .

Berglein left the company on July 1, 1870 and founded a paper business. Limbach acquired a property at Leopoldstrasse 13 and moved there in March 1877. Here he was able to further expand his print shop. He took on a new business partner with the businessman Otto Damm and together they published the daily Braunschweigische Landeszeitung from December 1, 1880 , which led to an upturn, with the publication of the Braunschweiger Stadt-Anzeiger from November 7, 1886 Another move required, as the premises were no longer sufficient to manage the printing. Since this was published in an edition of approximately 20,000 pieces. Initially, two double machines had been purchased, but they were too slow, so that a round machine should also be installed. The Hutfiltern 8 property was purchased and a new building was erected there, with statues of Johannes Gutenberg and Friedrich Koenig in two niches on the front . On November 10, 1887, the entire business was relocated there. The newly acquired steam engines supplied electricity for the machines and the lighting of all business premises as well as the neighboring block of houses. When Otto Damm died, Limbach took the businessman Adolf Bodenburg as a partner on May 5, 1889. The font sizes for commercial printing were converted to Hermann Berthold's system in June 1890 ; the newspaper department had already been set up according to this system in November 1887.
