Albert Luthuli or Chief Albert Luthuli is a community in the Gert Sibande district , Mpumalanga province in South Africa with its seat in Carolina . Busisiwe Shiba is the mayor.
The population increased in five years from 186,010 (2011 census) to 187,629 (2016).
The community is named after Albert John Mvumbi Luthuli (1898–1967). Luthuli was a tribal leader of the Zulu , teacher and religious leader and from 1952 to 1967 president of the African National Congress (ANC). In 1960 he was the first African to receive the Nobel Peace Prize .
