Albert Sting

Albert Sting (born May 7, 1924 in Ludwigsburg ; † August 9, 2020 in Ehningen ) was a German theologian , psychologist , local historian , director of the Diakoniewerk and holder of the Staufer Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg in gold.

Life

Sting was born in the rectory on Stadtkirchenplatz in Ludwigsburg. After graduating from university, Sting's academic career was interrupted by Reich labor and military service as well as by Soviet imprisonment until 1949. He then studied theology and psychology at the Universities of Tübingen and Göttingen . In 1951 Albert Sting became active in the Tübingen Wingolf , in 1952 in the Göttingen Wingolf . Sting completed his studies in Göttingen with a doctorate in philosophy .

After his time as a vicar, he accepted a position as a pastor in Waiblingen . There, Sting got involved in setting up a food delivery service for old and sick people. He helped set up the marriage and family counseling center in Stuttgart and was one of the founding members of the Stuttgart telephone counseling service . In 1961 Sting became a pastor in the city church of his hometown Ludwigsburg. As a deaconry pastor of the church district and as chairman of the Evangelical State Association for Day Care Centers in Württemberg , he took on other functions. In 1971 Albert Sting was appointed deputy principal at the newly established church training center for diakonia and religious education at Karlshöhe Ludwigsburg and lecturer in psychology . He held these functions until 1979, when he was appointed director of Karlshöhe. In this position he was responsible for the training of deacons, for homes and facilities in the field of youth, elderly, disabled and vulnerable assistance as well as for holiday facilities in the Swabian Forest and in Switzerland . He volunteered to support the diaconal adoption and foster placement.

The use Albert Stings for children in need and people with disabilities, his contributions to the study of the Diakonie and in the religious and social education and his commitment as a local historian and city chronicler were with the awarding of the Public Service Medal of the city of Ludwigsburg and the Federal Cross of Merit awarded. On May 17, 2014 State Secretary Jürgen Walter presented the rarely awarded Staufer Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg on behalf of the State Government Albert Sting as a personal award of the Prime Minister for services to the state.
