Albert van Overbeke

Albert van Overbeke CICM (born March 16, 1915 in Oostrozebeke ; † June 16, 1987 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Bayombong .

Life

Albert van Overbeke joined the Congregation of Scheut Missionaries in and received on 4 August 1940, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 18, 1966 as the first prelate of the territorial prelature of Bayombong established a few days earlier . On September 10, 1969, the Pope elevated him to the rank of bishop and appointed him titular bishop of Caliabria . The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines , Archbishop Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal consecration on November 30th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Juan Callanta Sison , Archbishop of Nueva Segovia , and William Brasseur CICM, Vicar Apostolic of the Filipino Mountain Provinces .

On February 18, 1978 he renounced his titular seat due to the changed allocation guidelines. With the elevation of the territorial prelature to the diocese of Bayombong on November 15, 1982, he became its first diocesan bishop .

Pope John Paul II accepted his health-related resignation on September 15, 1986.
