Albertina , officially Município de Albertina , is a small town in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais . It was founded as a separate municipality on December 30, 1962 and spun off from Jacutinga , becoming a town on March 1, 1963. According to official estimates, it had 3007 inhabitants in 2019 (according to the 2010 census: 2913 inhabitants).

Belo Horizonte , the capital of the state, is located about 480 km northeast, São Paulo about 200 km south and the Brazilian capital Brasília about 900 km north.

The Archdiocese of Pouso Alegre is responsible for the parishes in Albertina .

Surrounding communities are Andradas , Jacutinga , Espírito Santo do Pinhal and Santo Antônio do Jardim .

The biome is Mata Atlântica . The municipality has a share of land in the Serra de Bebedouro . There is a small lake in the village.

The community has a tropical mountain climate, Cwb according to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification . The average temperature is 18.7 ° C. The average rainfall is 1590 mm per year.

history

The place and the district of the same name were initially under Jacutinga. By the "Lei Estadual nº 2764" of December 30, 1962 the place was spun off, the actual emancipation took place on March 1, 1963.

Local government

The executive rests with the city prefect (mayor). In the local elections in 2016 , João Paulo Facanali de Oliveira des Partido Progressista (PP) was elected city prefect for the term from 2017 to 2020.

The legislature lies with an elected city council, the vereadores of the Câmara Municipal.
