Albertine van Vliet-Kuiper
Albertine van Vliet-Kuiper (born December 28, 1951 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch politician of the left-liberal party Democrats 66 (D66). Since June 2019 she has been acting mayor of the municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede .
Career
Van Vliet-Kuiper graduated from the HBS in her hometown Rotterdam and then studied geography at the Free University of Amsterdam .
As a member of D66, she was a member of the Apeldoorn municipal council for several years . After that, she served as Deichgräfin of water administration union Veluwe . On January 3, 2000, she was appointed mayor of Amersfoort and held this office until 2010.
Following the municipal elections in Utrecht in 2014, she was commissioned by the D66 to work as an “informateur” to explore the coalition options and common ground between the parties.
In June 2015 she became deputy mayor of the municipality of Bussum , which at that time was in a merger process with the municipalities of Muiden and Naarden . This was completed with the establishment of the newly formed Gooise Meren community . Since the new municipality could not operate without leadership, but a democratic electoral process could not be carried out in the short term, Van Vliet-Kuiper was appointed "incumbent mayor" by Johan Remkes , the king's commissioner in the province of North Holland , with effect from January 1, 2016 ( Dutch " waarnemend burgemeester " ) determined. A little more than a year later, she was replaced by Han ter Heegde in mid-January. In December 2017 Johan Remkes appointed Van Vliet-Kuiper again as an “incumbent mayor”, in this case of the municipality of Enkhuizen, with effect from January 10, 2018 . Her successor in this position was Eduard van Zuylen in October 2018.
Others
Albertine van Vliet-Kuiper is married and has two adult children.
Since then she has been chairwoman of the youth welfare organization Jantje Beton in secondary functions . Other organizations on her résumé are the “Nationaal Restauratiefonds”, the “Taskforce Management Overstromingen”, the “Raad voor Verkeer en Waterstaat” and the “Commissie Fundamentele Verkenning Transportbelemmeringen”.
