Career
Alberto Michán Halbinger studied International Management at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey . After graduating, he worked in the textile industry.
Alberto Michán had contact with horses early on through his parents: his mother was a show jumper, his father competed as a charro at Charrerías. He himself started riding at the age of five. He started competition three years later - at his mother's request, not as a charro, but in the less dangerous show jumping. His younger brother Daniel Michán Halbinger is also active as a show jumper.
Alberto Michán was already the Mexican champion of his age group at the age of nine, and in 1996 he won the gold medal at the North American championships for young riders in show jumping.
In 2006 he took part in a World Cup final and the World Equestrian Games for the first time . In 2008 Michán began a long-term collaboration with Alfonso Romo , and he also rode his first Olympic Games.
Since 2011, Alberto Michán has no longer been doing the sport as a hobby, but as a professional rider. For this he first moved his residence to Europe. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he jumped to fifth place in the individual ranking in the saddle of Rosalia La Silla . With the Mexican team, he finished ninth. Shortly after the Olympic Games, the mare moved to Bassem Hassan Mohammed's stable .
Meanwhile in Wellington (Florida) in the stable of the US-Israeli rider Ilan Ferder, Michán changed his nationality in the sport at the turn of the year 2017/2018. He has been running for Israel since January 1, 2018. After Daniel Bluman, he is the second internationally successful Latin American show jumper to compete for Israel with a view to the 2020 Olympic Games.
