Daniel Bluman (born March 15, 1990 in Medellín , Colombia ) is a show jumper who lives in Wellington (Florida) . He competed for Colombia until the end of 2016, and has been for Israel ever since .

Personal

Daniel Bluman has both Colombian and Israeli citizenship. He attended Hebrew school. His mother comes from Israel, his grandfather was interned in Auschwitz for three years and survived the Holocaust. Daniel Bluman has been married to the amateur show jumper Ariel Epstein since 2016.

Bluman is an ambassador for Just World International , an aid organization founded by former show jumper Jessica Newman.

Career

In September 2009 he won the USGPL Invitational Grand Prix in Culpeper, which is endowed with US $ 100,000 . This was his third consecutive Grand Prix win.

With Puertas Paraiso he started in 2010 at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington (Kentucky) . At the beginning of 2011 he rode his first Nations Cup in Wellington .

In October 2011 he started with Sancha LS at the Pan-American Games in Guadalajara (Mexico) and finished seventh in both the individual and the team. In late March 2012, he won the US $ 500,000 Grand Prix of the closing week of the Winter Equestrian Festival . This victory in a Grand Prix of a CSI 5 * tournament is his greatest success so far outside of championships.

He competes for Colombia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In 2014, two championships were on his program: In September, Sancha LS competed at the World Equestrian Games ; in November he played with Believe at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Veracruz. Here he won the gold medal with the team. The following year he joined Sancha LS at the Pan American Games in Toronto (fifth place in the team ranking).

His second Olympic Games , which were also his last championship for Colombia, he finished in 2016 with Apardi in 63rd place in the individual ranking.

He trained with Todd Minikus and Pablo Barrios and has been trained by Eric Lamaze since 2011 .
