Albrecht Philipp (born February 1, 1883 in Kleinwolmsdorf ; † January 24, 1962 in Borna ) was a German politician ( DNVP , SLV ).

Life and work

The son of the brewery director in Radeberg and member of the Saxon state parliament Gustav Philipp attended the pre-school of the Baron von Fletcher's teachers' college in Dresden from 1889 to 1891 . He then studied at the IV. Citizens' School in Dresden until 1894 and at the Dreikönigschule from 1894 , where he graduated from high school in 1901.

From 1903 to 1907 Philipp studied languages, history, geography, philosophy and economics at the University of Leipzig . a. with Karl von Bahder , Emil Jungmann , Alfred Doren , Karl Lamprecht , Rudolf Kötzschke and Gerhard Seeliger . In 1906 he became a doctor of philosophy PhD , in the following year, he passed the state examination for teachers at secondary schools.

In 1907/08 he was a research assistant at the State Archives in Weimar . After taking up a position as a trial teacher at the Realgymnasium and the agricultural school in Döbeln in 1908, he was hired in 1909 as a teacher at the Realgymnasium in Borna , where he taught history and geography. Since 1914 he was a senior teacher.

He took part in the First World War from 1914 to 1916 as a war volunteer, most recently in the rank of lieutenant.

In 1930 he was transferred to the Realgymnasium Leipzig, but returned to Borna in 1931.

From 1939 to December 1943 he was a member of the Wehrmacht , from which he resigned as Rittmeister of the reserve.

From 1944 to 1948 he worked as a teacher in Borna again before he retired in 1949.

Together with Horst Kohl , he was co-editor of the Bismarck calendar from 1913 to 1915. In the Weimar Republic from 1921 to 1930 he was editor and main collaborator of the German national weekly Sächsischer Volksbote .

Philipp was a Protestant and had been married to Alexandrine Pauline Wagner, daughter of the builder Paul Wagner, since 1919.

After Hugo Gottfried Opitz's death , Philipp was elected to Chamber II of the Saxon State Parliament on September 19, 1916 in the 25th rural constituency . He was a member of the conservative parliamentary group and as a representative of the Federation of Farmers until the constitutional monarchy in the Kingdom of Saxony was abolished in November 1918. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly as a representative of the 29th Saxon constituency . From 1920 to 1930 he was a member of the Reichstag . From 1920 to 1924 he held the mandate of the 32nd Saxon constituency ( Leipzig ), from 1924 to 1930 that of the 29th Saxon constituency (also Leipzig). From 1919 to 1928 Philipp represented the German National People's Party and from 1928 the Saxon Landvolk (SLV). As a representative of the SLV, together with the previous member of the Reichstag, Alwin Domsch, he tried to get on the list on the joint nomination of the SLV and the CNBL . While Domsch was successful, Philipp could not assert himself against Karl Heinrich Sieber and left the Reichstag.
