Aldo Giordano (born August 20, 1954 in Cuneo ) is an Italian clergyman , Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

The Bishop of Cuneo , Carlo Aliprandi , donated to him on 28 July 1979 after graduating at the diocesan seminary to ordination . He then continued his studies at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy in Fossano and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he received a doctorate in philosophy . He helped the pastoral care of the parish of St. Pius X in Cuneo. His scientific work is mainly concentrated around the ethical questions and problems of modern philosophy. Many works are dedicated to the dialogue with the work of Friedrich Nietzsche .

On May 15, 1995, he was elected General Secretary of the Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) and confirmed in office on October 4, 1998 and October 3, 2003. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him permanent observer of the Holy See on 7 June 2008 at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

On October 26, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Giordano Titular Archbishop pro hac vice of Tamada and Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela . The episcopal ordination received his Pro-Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on 14 December of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Cuneo, Giuseppe Cavallotto , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore .
