Alec Kann (born August 8, 1990 in Decatur ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a goalkeeper . He is currently under contract with Atlanta United .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Can played for his university's football team, the Furman Paladins , while at Furman University . For this he completed 44 games. In 2010 he also played in the Premier Development League for the Mississippi Brillas .

Club career

Can signed his first professional contract with Charleston Battery in the United Soccer League on March 23, 2012. He was in the squad for all games in 2012, but did not appear in a game. On March 19, 2013, he signed a contract with the MLS franchise Chicago Fire . In June 2014, Kann was loaned to the Charlotte Eagles and in March 2015 to Saint Louis FC . After returning to Chicago Fire, he played his first MLS game on October 26, 2015 in a 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls .

After the 2015 season, Chicago did not renew his contract and Kann participated in the 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft . There he was elected by Sporting Kansas City and signed a contract there. On December 13, 2016, Kann was selected in the Atlanta United MLS Expansion Draft .
