Alejandro Tabilo (born June 2, 1997 in Toronto , Canada ) is a Chilean tennis player .

Career

On the junior tour, Tabilo made it to 29th place in the ranking. During his time as a junior, however, he had little success at the junior grand slam tournament level .

Until 2015 Tabilo played without much success on the third-rate ITF Future Tour , where he won one title each in 2016, 2017 and 2019. In doubles he has won five titles in the category so far. From 2019 he took part in tournaments of the ATP Challenger Tour and made it to the semi-finals there in Puerto Vallarta for the first time. With further good results with a quarter-final in Almaty and a semi-final in Schymkent , he was about to move into the top 300 of the tennis world rankings . Among other things, three more quarter-finals brought him almost another 100 places up.

In 2020, he broke the top 200 right at the beginning by qualifying for the main draw of the Australian Open with three wins . In his opening match against Daniel Elahi Galán , he prevailed in five sets before losing to the American John Isner in round 2 . A month later at the ATP Tour tournament in Santiago de Chile , Tabilo received a wildcard for both competitions . In singles he defeated Paolo Lorenzi and subsequently lost to Casper Ruud , in doubles he made it to the semi-finals with Marcelo Tomás Barrios Vera . After the tournament he reached his career best in singles and doubles. In singles he was ranked 166, in doubles on rank 276.

In 2019 he made his debut for the Chilean Davis Cup team . He played at the Davis Cup Finals and the ATP Cup for Chile. His balance is 1: 3.
