Alexander English (born January 5, 1954 in Columbia , South Carolina ) is a retired American basketball player who served in the NBA from 1976 to 1991 for the Milwaukee Bucks (1976-78), Indiana Pacers (1978-80), Denver Nuggets (1980-90) and Dallas Mavericks (1990-91) was active.

English was one of the dominant players in the 1980s and is one of the best points collectors in NBA history . Of his 25,613 points, he scored 21,645 for the Denver Nuggets (Nuggets All-Time Scoring Leader). His career stats are 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He was appointed three times to the second All-NBA team , was eight times All-Star (1982-1989) and threw himself with 28.4 points per game in the 1982/83 season even to the top scorer of the league. In 1988 Alex English also received the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award for social commitment.

English was president and later interim executive director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

In 1997, English was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for his career achievements as a player .
