Alex Frei (born May 6, 1993 in Bolzano ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with SV Kaltern ice hockey in the Italian A2 series since 2009 . Since the 2010/11 season it has also been used for the cooperation partner HC Pustertal from the A1 series .

Career

Frei began his career in the youth department of SV Kaltern ice hockey . At the age of 16 he came to some appearances in the first team of his home club for the first time. In 28 regular championship games, the striker scored eight points (two goals and six assists ) in the 2009/10 season . A season later, he ran for the first time in the ranks of the cooperation partner HC Pustertal . In his first regular game in the A1 series on September 25, 2010 with HC Pustertal against SG Pontebba , he scored two goals. In the 2012/13 season he mainly played for Ritten Sport in the highest Italian league. After he had suspended in the 2013/14 season, he was initially on the ice for his home club SV Kaltern, which had meanwhile been promoted to Serie A, in the following season. Shortly before the end of the main round, he moved to Hockey Milano Rossoblu , where he completed the last two main round games and the playoffs.

International

For Italy Frei took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2009 and 2011 , when he was top scorer and best preparer of the tournament and was also voted the best player in his team and Division II in 2010 , when he was also top scorer and best Was the preparer of the tournament and thus contributed decisively to the immediate resurgence of the Italians in Division I, as well as the U20 World Championships of Division I in 2011 , 2012 and 2013 .

For the men's selection of the Italians, he was on the ice for the first time at the 2015 World Cup in Division I.
