Ivan Šijan (born June 2, 1990 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Herlev Eagles in the Danish Metal Ligaen since January 2015 .

Career

Ivan Šijan began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the KHL Medveščak Zagreb . The defender played for the capital club between 2006 and 2009 in the Interliga , Croatian championship and the Slovenian ice hockey league . With Medveščak Zagreb he won the Croatian championship title in 2007 and 2009 . In the 2009/10 season , the Croatian international made his debut for Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league , but initially only played one game. The rest of the season he spent with Medveščaks second team in the Slohokej League .

In the 2010/11 season , Šijan was part of Medveščak's permanent staff in the EBEL for the first time. In a total of 56 games he remained pointless and received four penalty minutes. In addition, he ran 22 times for the Zagreb team , the joint project of the Zagreb top clubs, in the Slohokej League and became Croatian champions for the third time in his career with Medveščak's second team. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 he was able to win the Croatian title with his team. After he was no longer used in the first team, which now played in the KHL , in the 2013/14 season , he moved to the top Slovenian club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the summer of 2014 , for which he was both in the EBEL and in the Slovenian League was on the ice. In January 2015 he left the team from Ljubljana and joined the Herlev Eagles from the Danish Metal Ligaen , for whom he has played since then.

International

For Croatia , Šijan took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division II in 2006 , 2007 and 2008 , the U20 World Junior Championships in Division II in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2010 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Cup in Division I in 2010 and in the tournaments in Division II in 2011 , 2012 and 2013 . He also represented Croatia at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
