Alexander "Alex" Graves (born July 23, 1965 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is an American television director and producer and screenwriter .

Life

His father, William, was a reporter for The Kansas City Star , while his mother, Alexandra, worked for Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum of Kansas. When Alex was young, his family moved to El Dorado , his father's hometown. In 1983 he dropped out of El Dorado High School and consequently attended the University of Kansas and the University of Southern California . He completed the latter with a bachelor's degree in film production.

Career

Graves is known for his work on the series The West Wing - In the Center of Power . He worked for the series as a producer, screenwriter and director. For the production he won two Emmys ; He was nominated for an Emmy for directing the episodes Posse Comitatus and The Party Congress .

Graves has also directed popular series such as Homeland , Game of Thrones and House of Cards .
