Alexandra "Alex" Tilley (born October 5, 1993 in Aberdeen ) is a British ski racer . She specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom .

biography

Tilley is from Torphins near Aberdeen in Scotland . She learned to ski at the age of eight. As a 15-year-old, she took part in FIS races for the first time in December 2008 . In 2009 she was a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk , where she had no countable result. In November 2010 she had her first appearance in the Nor-Am Cup . Her first victory in an FIS race was in Bormio in February 2012 . A month later she went to the British championships held in Méribel and won in all five disciplines, some of which were even faster than the male competition. Two weeks after she had contested the first races in the European Cup , Tilley had her debut in the World Cup on January 27, 2013 , where she was eliminated in the first run in the Maribor slalom .

In December 2013 Tilley drove into the points for the first time in a European Cup race. However, she was unable to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympics due to controversial qualification criteria from the British federation. In December 2014, Tilley caused a stir when she won three races of the Nor-Am Cup in six days. A month later she started at the 2015 World Championships in Beaver Creek , where she finished 24th in the slalom. She won her first World Cup points on December 28, 2015 with 19th place in the Lienz slalom . She achieved her best World Cup result so far on December 19, 2017 in the giant slalom in Courchevel . In 2019 she took part in the East Timorese Alpine Ski Championships .
