Alexander Friedrich von der Osten (born July 15, 1668 in Carsdorf , † November 10, 1736 in Halberstadt ) was a lieutenant colonel from Kurbrandenburg and a Prussian minister .

Life

origin

Alexander Friedrich was a member of the noble family von der Osten . His parents were the Brandenburg General Quartermaster and heir to Schildberg Heinrich Adam von der Osten (1626-1683) and Ursula, née von Heydebreck . The district administrator Carl Curt von der Osten (1672-1724) was his younger brother.

Career

East initially chose the career of an officer and took part in the Great Turkish War , in particular the siege of Belgrade , but also the Palatinate War of Succession . He was promoted to Oberstwachtmeister with the “ Lethmate ” regiment in Magdeburg and received his farewell as a lieutenant colonel .

Afterwards he was court marshal to Margrave Albrecht Friedrich von Brandenburg-Schwedt in Berlin . In 1712 he became Vice-President of the Lithuanian Chamber in Tilsit and in 1718 Real Secretary of State. After he had withdrawn from his property for a few years , he was the heir to Stölitz in the Ostenschen Kreis , which was named after his family , and in 1727 he became secret minister of state and president of the Principality of Halberstadt .

His first marriage was to Dorothea Elisabeth von Maltzan († 1708) and, after her death, to Eva Catharina von Barfus . Several sons and daughters were born from both marriages, including:

  • Carl Friedrich (1702–1738), Prussian lieutenant
  • Alexander (* 1707), imperial lieutenant
  • Friedrich Wilhelm (1712–1764), secret government and war councilor
