Alexander Wiktorowitsch Iwanow ( Russian Александр Викторович Иванов , Belarusian Аляксандр Іваноў , also IVAN , born October 29, 1994 in Homel ) is a Belarusian - Russian singer . He represented his native Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm .

life and career

Ivanov was born on October 29, 1994 in Homel, Belarus, but now lives in Saint Petersburg , Russia, where he began his musical career in 2009 as a member of a rock band. In June 2014 he won the Five Stars talent competition , which would have qualified for participation in the 2015 Intervision Song Contest in Sochi , but has not yet taken place.

At the end of 2015, he applied to Belarusian television under the name Ivan for the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden and reached the TV final on February 22, 2016, which he finally won just before the group Napoli. The title Help You Fly was written by the same composers who produced the Russian contributions in 2005 and 2012. However, he could not qualify for the final of the competition.
