Anastassija Vinnikawa (born April 15, 1991 in Dzjarschynsk , Belarusian Анастасія Віннікава) is a Belarusian singer. She represented her home country with the song "I Love Belarus" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf .

biography

Vinnikawa first attended the public school, then a music school in her hometown of Djarshynsk, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the capital Minsk . There she studies at the State Linguistic University. By participating in auditions, she caught the eye of the “People's Artist of Belarus”, Wassil Raintschyk, who helped her start her music career. For example, she sang at the opening of the Minsk Arena sports complex . At the end of 2010 she took part in the television program Musykalny Sud with the title “Born in Byelorussia” written by Jauhen Alejnik and Wiktar Rudenka, but could not qualify for the final. In 2011, the composers sent the song to the radio broadcaster BTRC, which, as a national member of the European Broadcasting Union, is responsible for selecting the contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest . On February 28, the song was finally selected.

However, the lyrics of "Born in Byelorussia" were criticized for their references to the Soviet era , so it was decided to rewrite the lyrics. Alejnik and the well-known singer Swjatlana Heraskowa contributed their names to "I Am Belarusian" , the arrangement of which, compared to the present, disco- like Musykalny Sud version, is to be changed in the direction of pop rock . With the song, the singer wanted to take part in the second semi-final of the international final competition.

On March 4, however, it was reported that she had performed “Born in Byelorussia” publicly in May 2010. This is a breach of the Eurovision rules which state that songs cannot have been performed before September 1st. A video of the performance at the “Golden Globe of the Translation Faculty” concert at the State Linguistic University she is attending will be used as evidence. Composer Jauhen Alejnik rejected the allegations because the text for “I am Belarusian” had only existed for two days and the music would also be changed. The title was still disqualified.

A new song was chosen. Anastassija appeared in Düsseldorf with "I love Belarus". The title took 14th place in the second semifinals and was eliminated because only the first ten places moved into the final.
