Alexander Jurjewitsch Katschanowski ( Russian Александр Юрьевич Качановский ; born December 8, 1984 in Kalocsa , Hungary ) is a Russian biathlete .
Life
Alexander Katschanowski made his international debut at the 2004 European Junior Championships in Minsk . In the individual he was 19th place, in the sprint he was twelfth and improved in the pursuit to fourth place. At the beginning of the 2004/05 season, the Russian made his debut in the European Junior Biathlon Cup . He won his third race, a sprint in Geilo , after finishing third and second in the races. During the season he achieved single-digit results in all races.
Since summer 2005 Katschanowski competes with adults. He ran the first races in this area as part of the 2005 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Muonio . There he won the sprint and pursuit titles as well as silver with Alexei Kobelew , Oleg Rudenko and Iwan Bogdanow in the relay race behind the Czech team. An eighth place was added in the mass start. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season he first appeared in the European Cup. The first result was a 55th place in an individual from Obertilliach . At the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2006 in Ufa , he competed again and achieved good results. Katschanowski finished fifth in the sprint and fourth in the pursuit. The next successes achieved Katschanowski at the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2008 in Bansko , where he won the title in the mass start as well as in the mixed relay race and was second behind Alexei Katrenko in the sprint. The summer biathlon European championships 2009 in Nové Město na Moravě brought the title in sprint races and together with Tatjana Belkina , Ljudmila Solomatina and Alexei Katrenko with the mixed relay. In the mass start he only had to admit defeat to Ruslan Nasirov . This Katschanowski was the most successful participant in the title fights. The 2010 Summer Biathlon European Championships in Osrblie were less successful, where he finished seventh in the sprint and fifth in the pursuit and thus missed the qualification for the mixed relay.
The Summer Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Martell were more successful again . Katschanowski was behind Sergei Balandin both in the sprint and in the pursuit of runner-up, and won with this and Olga Prokopjewa and Natalja Solowjowa the title in the mixed relay race.
