Alexander Pohlmann (born September 10, 1865 in Graudenz , † October 5, 1952 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German politician ( Progressive People's Party , DDP ).

Life and work

Pohlmann, whose father was Lord Mayor of Graudenz, studied law and administration in Freiburg im Breisgau , Breslau , Leipzig and Berlin after graduating from high school . From 1896 to 1898 he worked in the city administration of Frankfurt am Main and then until 1903 as a full-time city councilor in Poznan .

Political party

Pohlmann belonged to the Progressive People's Party in the German Empire, and in 1918 he helped found the DDP.

MP

Pohlmann was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1912 to 1918, after having been a member of the Upper Silesian Provincial Parliament since 1904 . He was then a member of the Weimar National Assembly in 1919/20 and a member of the Reichstag from 1920 to 1922 . He lost his mandate due to the separation of parts of Upper Silesia from Germany, with which the mandates won there expired. In the National Assembly on April 12, 1919, he spoke out against the socialization of potash mining as part of the deliberation on the law governing the regulation of the potash industry ; the voluntary potash indicator was sufficient as a control instrument.

Public offices

From 1903 to 1920 Pohlmann was Lord Mayor of Kattowitz . From 1920 until his retirement in 1930 he was the district president of the administrative district of Magdeburg in the province of Saxony .
