Alexander Tsymbalyuk ( Ukrainian Олександр Цимбалюк / Oleksandr Zymbaljuk ; * 1976 in Odessa , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian opera singer ( bass ). He has been singing at the Hamburg State Opera since 2001 .

Life

Alexander Tsymbalyuk's musical training began at the age of five. From 1995 he studied singing at the Odessa Conservatory , and graduated in 2003 with a master's degree in singing. In 2000 Alexander Tsymbalyuk was engaged as a soloist at the Odessa Opera House. From 2001 to 2003 Tsymbalyuk was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera, and in the 2003/04 season he was accepted into the permanent ensemble.

Tsymbalyuk's repertoire includes over fifty major supporting roles, including: Boris from Boris Godunow , Ramfis and Re from Aida , King Rene from Iolanta , Commendatore from Don Giovanni , Bartolo from Le nozze di Figaro , Prince Gremin from Eugene Onegin , Sparafucile and Monterone in Rigoletto , Banco from Macbeth , Ferrando from Il trovatore , Fiesco from Simon Boccanegra , Lodovico from Otello , Timur from Turandot , Colline from La Bohème , Hunding in Die Walküre , the Fafner in Das Rheingold and in Siegfried , the Basilio in Barber of Seville and the Raimondo Bidebent in Lucia di Lammermoor .

  • 1999: 2nd place at the International Competition of Young Opera Singers Alchevsky in Charkow
  • 2000: 1st place at the International Mikuláš-Schneider-Trnavský Competition in Trnava
  • 2006: 1st place at the 5th International Competition for Young Opera Singers "Elena Obraztsova" in Moscow
  • 2007: 1st place at the XIII. International competition for young opera singers "Riccardo Zandonai" in Riva del Garda
  • 2007: 1st place in singing at the XIII. International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow
