Alexandre Awi Mello

Alexandre Awi Mello ISch (born January 17, 1971 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic religious .

Life

Alexandre Awi Mello joined the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Fathers and studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in Santiago de Chile . Mello received on 7 July 2001, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Then he was parish vicar in the parish of Nossa Senhora das Dores in Santa Maria . Mello also worked as an assessor for the youth apostolate of the Schoenstatt Movement in southern and southeastern Brazil and as the national director of the Schoenstatt Movement in Brazil. In 2000, Alexandre Awi Mello obtained a degree in Catholic theology from the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar . He then began a doctoral degree in Mariology at the International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton .

In addition, Mello was Professor of Pastoral Theology and Systematic Theology at the Paul VI Institute from 2002 to 2004 . in Londrina and from 2005 to 2009 at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná in Curitiba . Since 2012 he has been a professor at the Centro Universitário Salesiano in São Paulo .

On May 31, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Secretary of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life .
