Alexius you Hamel

Chevalier Alexius du Hamel or Alexis du Hamel (* 1720 in Nice , † after 1800) was a Saxon lieutenant general of the cavalry .

Life

origin

Hamel was a member of a dubbed French noble family . Franz du Hamel is said to have been a relative .

career

Hamel was initially in the imperial military service, where he advanced to prime lieutenant . In 1748 he entered the Saxon army with the character of a cavalry master . In 1749 he was a major in the Garde du Corps . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1753 and was given the character of a colonel in 1760 . From 1758 to 1763 he was also an adjutant to Prince Xavier . He was also the commander of Infantry Regiment No. 11 until 1761 . Although Hamel received the character of a major general in 1776 his farewell with pension , but was appointed in 1790 to lieutenant general and duly developed until 1800, when the General Staff.

He was a knight of the Military Order of St. Henry .
